- GROUP Exercise & Cancer
- PROJECT SPAN 2022
- DATE 02/01/2022
Overview
The vision of the Exercise Implementation Working Group is to develop “nationally consistent referral pathways for personalised exercise plans”.
Details on this project
The Exercise Implementation Working Group is chaired by Professor Christine Paul from the University of Newcastle. There are 18 members in the group with a diverse multidisciplinary mix (including implementation science, medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, nursing, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, general practice, dietetics, health economics and a consumer representative).
The Exercise Implementation Working Group was formed in 2019, but work was put on hold pending final approval of the updated COSA position statement on Exercise in Cancer Care. The working group will reconvene in 2022.
The Working Group will develop an implementation plan for the COSA position statement on Exercise in Cancer Care, which will provide a strategy on how to enact the calls within the position statement into routine cancer care. New resources will also be developed, including a clinician handout, patient handout, slide deck for presentations and FAQ’s.
