COSA Survivorship Fellow Opportunity – Financial Toxicity
Call for Expressions of Interest
COSA’s Financial Toxicity Working Group is calling for expressions of interest from early career researchers to become a COSA Survivorship Fellow.
This Fellowship is being offered as an opportunity through the COSA Survivorship Group’s Fellowship program, which has been developed to address strategic priorities while mentoring and supporting the development of promising early career researchers.
The chosen Fellow will be co-mentored by Professor Raymond Chan, Professor Louisa Collins and Megan Varlow.
The Fellow will lead a project that will advance activity under COSA’s Financial Toxicity Roadmap to Reducing Financial Toxicity Experienced by People Affected by Cancer. Specifically the Fellow will work to support/advance:
4.1 Job/employment and income security reform. Short term action 4.1a Conduct an options analysis to identify and agree on feasible and beneficial options to enhance job and income security and mitigate the risk of financial toxicity
The parameters of this project will be developed and confirmed by the Fellow in consultation with their mentoring team.
The Fellow will join the Financial Toxicity Working Group for the duration of the Fellowship as a co-opted member and will receive additional guidance and support from other members of the Working Group. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to seek advice and input on the project from members of the COSA Survivorship Executive.
Commitment
The time commitment for this project is 4-8 hours a week for approximately 12 months. Applicants are expected to confirm that their current manager/supervisor is supportive of them dedicating the time required to undertake the Fellowship, before applying.
This role is voluntary in nature and the Fellow will not receive financial reimbursement. If successful and not already a COSA member, the applicant would be expected to join COSA and become a member of the Survivorship Group.
Depending on final contribution, the successful applicant will:

- act as the first author of a peer reviewed manuscript resulting from this work
- be supported to present this work at the COSA ASM or Survivorship Conference
- be encouraged to present the work at other meetings and conferences
- receive a certificate of acknowledgement
