COSA's statement on the Voice to Parliament
The Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) supports any initiative that will enable a reduction in the unacceptable inequities in cancer outcomes between First Nations and non-indigenous Australians. An independent and permanent advisory body that gives advice to the Australian Parliament and Government on matters that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders is a significant step forward. Supporting the Voice will empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in ways that not only directly impact medical outcomes but in other areas across the social determinants of health outcomes, such as housing, racism and access to services. COSA acknowledges the support for the Voice from medical colleges and the AMA.
